Yes, playing Rome in DeI actually feel fun unlike the vanilla and most other mods where it is a steamroll. But it's always one ship per ship as transports being rammed just is game over for them. Best I could do was mutual destruction of my melee troops boarding actions. It just doesn't get more total war and it felt like reliving how it truly was for Rome.Īnd yea their navy is scary. Careful to not attrition myself and multiple supporting legions. Now I almost desintegrated their allies and move slowly on the rest around Gibraltar. Leading up to me losing control over Carthage a whopping 3 times (the area looks like a WW1 zone full of epic battle markers around the city).

Then I lost a general in an extremely heroic naval battle of mutual destruction that almost caused a civil war (general was a 500+ gravitas max rank leader of another family I parked In the navy to transport troops to not give him any more glory.) so I had to spend all the money preventing that and it further slowed down my war on Carthage. Pirates messed up some of my momentom and some opportunistic rebels (playing on VH). I'm still fighting Carthage and almost reached turn 100 now. To anyone who was on the fence about trying DEI, if you want a challenge as Rome, play this mod. It took forever but when I destroyed them I felt so damn accomplished, something I really did not feel in vanilla. Turn 100 and I finally enter Iberia to crush the remaining resistance, while they maintain 3 navy stacks and 4-5 armies the whole way. Then another 30 turns to take out their clients whose Numidian spearmen and Jav Cav wreck my less mobile armies. My full stack is sunk, and I spend the next 50 turns waging a war of attrition, building navies only to lose most ships, just to get enough time so I can gain a foothold. Three full navy stacks materialized out of the FOW. They swing around and hit me with a Phoenician Fuck You.
